GOW AT THE DOUBLE

In a nailbiting final title deciding match, LESMAHAGOW secured the Divisional title to go along with their earlier cup victory.
Glebe Hibs were hoping for a defeat or draw which would have either given them the title, or a play off, but against Scottish semi finalists EK COLTS, the GOW fought their way to a 2 nil victory with, according to our reporter, including a contentious opening penalty award, but as always, the refs decision is final and he pointed to the spot.
A second in the 2nd half secured the title despite EK hitting the woodwork.
A really tight and hard division only decided with the contenders last game.

Dynamic Dynamo charged up for Strathaven

The inaugral LANARKSHIRE CUP FINAL saw Strathaven Dynamo overcome Rutherglen Glencairn 6-1.
The scoreline, says our reporter, does not reflect the game, as Rutherglen Glencairn created a lot of chances as well.
At Half time, Dynamo had a 4 goal cushion, which was gonna be pretty difficult to overcome.
An outstanding victory for Strathaven in their first season in the league.
Thanks to sponsors HAIR OF THE DOG, and to our hosts, Vale of Clyde FC

PORT GLASGOW CELTIC SPARK A CLASSIC

After an absolute thrilling final, PORT GLASGOW CELTIC won the inaugral Spark Commander/Totally Rewired Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Cup at Renfrew FC
Celts took the lead, but Stanley equalised in the 89th minute to take it to extra time.
Again, neither team could score, and even a missed penalty for Celtic in the last minute could not stop a penalty shoot out despite Stanley rattling the woodwork 3 times.
Nerves must have been really ragged, but the Port ran out 6-5 winners.
Congrats to Ryan and the Celts, and commiserations to Stanley who really provided a outstanding game.
Man of the Match was awarded to Paul Johnstone of PGC
Massive thanks to Craig Kincaid and the sponsors for their support

Annual General Meeting rings the changes

The league held its 2021-22 AM at Glasgow Green on Monday 6th June
League Secretary praised clubs for surviving a harrowing season, and they all deserved huge credit, which was also backed up by retiring Match Secretary Craig Burton
The main part of the meeting dealt with the sad demise of the GDSMFL, which has seen many clubs without a home. The vast majority had applied to join the league and member clubs fully supported this move, which now brings our club total up to 72
All the new clubs are greatly welcome in joining us.
Clubs were updated on the new structure for divisions next season, and also major changes to cup competitions, again, fully supported by the members.
The members also approved all nominations to the new office bearers and executive committee, which can be viewed on our contacts age
The draw for the Cutting Edge Champions Cup group sections were held, and matches for this will start on Sat 30th July

Strathclyde Cup heads South

Glasgow South survived a spirited fightback from AS Airdrie to win the 21-22 Kastle Decor Strathclyde Cup Final in glorious sunshine at New Douglas Park
The leagues showpiece and last final under the existing league name, lived up to expectations as South really went for it, scoring 3 times in the first half, but that all changed as AS stormed back with 2 in the second period and could not find an equaliser.
Fine performances all over the park and the choice of Man of the match was not easy, but went to Souths Bryan Gillespie.
